Episode 17: Robin McNelis – Respiratory physio

Breathing might have a far greater impact on our Long Covid symptoms and recovery than we realise.  From breathlessness to fatigue and chest pain to gastrointestinal issues, changes to breathing could have dramatically impacted our symptoms, even in those who do not have lung issues.  This week Robin McNelis, who has first-hand experience in dealing with breathing pattern disorders as well as living with Long Covid, explains the biomechanical and biochemical impacts of breath changes on our body.

Pre-Covid Robin could run a marathon in under three hours.  Nowadays he is building back up to a gentle jog.  He talks us through his personal experience of diagnosis, treatment and symptom management that has put him on the road to recovery.

With over 20 years experience in helping people with breathing pattern disorders, Robin understands that our symptoms are very real, but knows that some could be improved with simple breathing techniques.  He believes that some of the methodology he recommends for athletes could help many of us in our everyday lives and that by breathing better we could improve or even eliminate some of our symptoms.
